Daud Khan Karrani died within the battle of Rajmahal against Mughals in 1576. Akbar then appointed Isa Khan collectively of the Bara-Bhuiyans by creating him the zamindar of Sonargaon. Since then Isha Khan resisted Mughal's ruling in his space. With the assistance of allies, he stood resistant against Mughals within the battle against Subahdar Khan Jahan in 1578, and Subahdar Shahbaz Khan in 1584 and Durjan Singh in 1597.
